Come join us for a challenging workout and to meet new people to do an urban stair hike in the beautiful hills around Silver Lake Reservoir.

This time we'll go around the reservoir counter clockwise. The first part will be moderately easy, but then we will be challenged with the Esther triple stairs and Loma Vista long stairs and numerous other staircases.

LEVEL: Intermediate Plus for speed, total elevation gain, and length. Some inclines are ++ level. We are a friendly group that loves to socialize and encourage newcomers, but please note that moderate++ cardio fitness and brisk walking speed are required.

LENGTH: 5.6 miles, 11 long staircases up and 3 down, + steep hills. 1200 ft elevation gain, which is likely to be harder than it sounds for those not used to stairs! +/-2 hours 10 min.

SPEED: Faster than moderate hikes, but below advanced ones. We take a short pause to re-group at the top of the stairs and the steepest hills, but guests are expected to keep up in the easy parts. There will be no sweep; bring a phone with navigation just in case you want to leave early.

BRING: Exercise outfit, workout shoes (no hiking shoes needed), and water. Flashlight for the last part, if you have one handy.

PARKING: Street parking. Edgewater Terrace has a surprising amount of free, unlimited parking available; stay west of the library to avoid meters.

RESTROOMS and START: The library should be open after renovations, but please be back by 6.05pm. We meet at 6.00pm for introductions and take off sharply 5min later.
(LATECOMERS: if you are running a few minutes late meet us at the intersection Lakewood Ave and Angus St.)

PLEASE NO CRASHING: Urban hikes do not work well with large groups, so, unfortunately, I have to limit the group size. I "overbook" the events in anticipation of some last-minute dropouts, so you cannot count on the availability of those spots. The waitlist generally clears in order when spots open up, but people with pictures (LA Hiking Group rule) and good attendance records may get priority.

LIABILITY: The organizer is an unpaid and untrained volunteer. By joining this event each member accepts full responsibility for knowing their limits, for all injuries and health issues, assessing risks, for material losses and for getting lost. Each member agrees to make their guests aware of these policies, also, and release the host from all liability.
