Fryman rainforest side entrance

This less used entrance to our hike avoids the main parking lot which now charges $7-$14 for parking, ouch!! The brutal heat wave will be better for this hike, and a good portiin of the hike is in the shade :) The hike is 7 miles with 1,400' of gain and is considered moderate, there is an option of reducing the hike by a mile by continuing down laurel canyon once we reach the parking lot. We will be exploring some less frequented trails as well as the popular ones. The hike can be made shorter by returning down laurel canyon once we reach the parking lot. Leashed dogs are welcome. We will take our break at the rainforest where you get to go under a large eucalyptus tree that blew over during some heavy winds. There is no designated trail sweep on this hike, so if you can't keep up with the moderate pace you'll have to be comfortable hiking on your own.
