rainforest trail/ Fryman park overlook

Details
hike Leader: Fearless leader Jose
Well since it rained again I thought it might be nice to visit a rainforest, A rainforest where I don't have to run for my life to avoid the lightening strikes like yesterday.
Ok we won't be visiting a real rain forest, only a part of an that kinda
looks like one. But it is real nice to visit there and you will get a workout.
When: Saturday Sept 17 , 2011 9:30am
Where: Wilacre Park in studio city. click on the address above or follow
the directions below
directions:from where ever you are get to the 101 freeway and head towards
studio city. that is near universal city (universal studios-citywalk) near the 101-134-170
freeway interchange. Then Exit Laurel Canyon Blvd. and turn south. That means turn
left if going northbound and right if going southbound. You will drive for a couple of miles
til you reach Fryman road. there is traffic light there and it is a "T" intersection.
Make a right and then another quick right to get into the parking lot.
The parking lot where we meet is at the intersection of Laurel canyon blvd and
fryman rd. Now if you want to park there it costs 3 dollars. the problem is that
it fills up quickly and you have to park north of fryman park if you want to park for free.
You can't park at fryman rd and south of it. you have to park north of the park
on laurel canyon on the west side. Or park in the neighborhoods of the light
before fryman rd where the signs permit you to park
************************************************************
Please come early if you have not been there before. or else you might be left behind

What to bring: Water, hat, snack, hiking shoes, dress for weather, and a smile for Jose.
3 dollars if you want to park at wilacre park
Hike level: advanced beginner 4.5 out of 10, 1150 feet elevation gain and loss, 6 miles roundtrip,
Roads, trails and fireroads will be taken. slow uphill, medium downhill
hike description: as we start at the parking lot, we will take a road up the hill.
The hill is pretty steep, but it only lasts a short while.
we will take trails and roads til we get to the tree people park.
There we will stop at the restrooms and walk around. then we will head downhill on a road
til we get to a neighborhood. There we will take another fireroad then a one man
trail til we get to the rainforest rest area.
there we will rest and see if there is someone stupid enough to be using
the rope swing. the last time i went I saw some moron using it and he almost fell
to his death. So hopefully none of group is stupid enough to get on. Then we will keep going til we get to the fryman park overlook. the trail there is a little scary in certain areas and there is spot where we have to use your hands to hop up on some rocks on the trail, but don't be scared or worried. My messed up knees and overweight butt still does it and you can to.
then after we will go back and head down a road and through a beautiful
neighborhood with a whole lot of nice houses til we get back to the cars.
dogs allowed but must be on a leash at times
