Park on Stunt Road a mile east of Mulholland Highway. I drive a non-descript tan nissan Sentra which looks like every other car on the road...

6 miles out and back to the top of Saddle Peak for ocean views above Malibu, with an 1800 foot elevation gain.

part 1 of a 2-part Saturday conquest of Saddle Peak (9 am to 1:30 pm) and Big Rock Mesa/Tuna Canyon Park (2 to 5 pm--this hike is posted separately: http://www.meetup.com/hiking-196/events/37052542/ )

DIRECTIONS TO THE TRAILHEAD:

1 MILE EAST OF MULHOLLAND HIGHWAY ON STUNT ROAD.

Take the 101 freeway west to Topanga canyon. Take Topanga south to Mulholland. Follow Mulholland to the west for several miles and turn left (east) on Stunt Road. Parking is in 1 mile. There are two trails that cross the road (one goes north to Calabasas peak, ours goes south to Saddle Peak)
