FOR INTERMEDIATE TO EXPERIENCED HIKERS ONLY. THIS IS AN ADVENTURE HIKE AND CLIMB!

(ABOVE: Bouquet falls and rocks. BELOW: Vasquez rocks park)

The first part of this hike involves climbing using your hands, although no ropes are required, so shoes with good grip and even climbing gloves would be a good idea.

From the waterfalls, we climb metamorphic rocks (Pelona Schist) up 200 feet to a single-track trail which then leads to Bee Peak via a single track trail through the brush. There is only poison oak in the creek, but wear long pants if you're really bad about avoiding it. Total elevation gain is 1100 feet. We will take our time getting up the rocks as they are like climbing a rock staircase. After reaching the peak, we continue west to a wide jeep trail called the Saugus Del Sur road, and then drop back down to Bouquet canyon Rd. via the Quarry Road, also a wide jeep trail.

This is an exploratory hike because I've only done the Quarry road portion and from the waterfalls to above the cliffs portion, but my aerial photos show a trail leading all the way to the top.

LENGTH: about 6 miles and three hours at least

THEN WE RE-GROUP FOR LUNCH AT BIG MOUTH PIZZA IN AGUA DULCE

AND FOR ANY SURVIVORS THAT WANT TO GO TO VASQUEZ ROCKS FOR SOME MORE FUN, YOU ARE WELCOME TO JOIN IN.

BOUQUET FALLS AND BEE PEAK HIKE:

14 freeway to Sand Canyon road exit, go north 2 miles and when it intersects Sierra Highway, turn right, go 1/4 mile then turn left onto Vasquez canyon and follow this road for about 3 miles and then turn right at Bouquet canyon road. Turn right and go north for about 9 miles. You will see a sign saying "Quarry Road". Park in the dirt area on the right side of the road.

GPS coordinates:N[masked] W[masked]

From here, we will follow the main road north to the waterfalls campground.

(NOTE: There is also a right turn off the road into the waterfalls camp parking lot: N[masked] W[masked] where you can also park. Please park in the spaces on the right as you enter, as the ones on the left are reserved for residents of the cabins.

There is also more parking at the top of Bouquet Falls: N[masked] W[masked])

We will start our hike at the Quarry road parking area on the roadside. The waterfalls are right along the roadside and total about 1/4 mile. After we walk up the boulder-strewn creek to the waterfalls, we will start climbing the rocks at the top of the waterfalls area.

(the rocks are directly north of this sign saying "The Falls"--above photo)

PARKING HERE REQUIRES A NATIONAL FOREST ADVENTURE PASS, WHICH COSTS $5 A DAY OR $30 A YEAR.

(when driving, if you reach Bouquet reservoir, you have gone too far. The parking areas are 1 1/2 miles downhill from the Bouquet dam)

BIG MOUTH PIZZA: N[masked] W[masked]

33323 Agua Dulce Canyon Rd

VASQUEZ ROCKS PARK: N[masked] W[masked]

From Big Mouth Pizza go South on Agua Dulce road and turn left at the "T", then in 1/4 mile the Vasquez rocks entry is a right turn. Parking is free here

We will car-convoy and Meet at the farthest in big dirt parking lot by the porta-potties. We will hike the geology trail, then hit the punchbowls, and then the razor-backs.

POST HIKE CALORIE LOADING:

WE will probably stop by the Inn n Out Burger at Sand Canyon and the 14 freeway for burgers and shakes before fleeing back to our homes.
