What to bring: hat, sunscreen, hiking poles, energy bar, lunch, snacks, water, and the usual stuff.

This is the first in a series of 4 hikes that take us to alpine forest around Mt Baldy. Each hike is more difficult than the previous one, allowing us to gradually build up our strength and endurance as we progress in this series.

The 1st hike to Timber Mountain, the elevation gain is 3,400' in 9 miles. (9/8)

The 2nd hike to Mt. Baldy via Ski Hut trail, the gain is 4,000' in 8 miles. (9/29)

The 3rd hike to 3T, the gain is 4,700' in 10.5 miles. (10/13)

The 4th hike to Mt. Baldy via Bear Canyon trail, the gain is 6,000' in 10 miles. (10/27)

Priority in future hikes will be given to hikers staying with this series. The 4th hike to Baldy via Bear Canyon trail is the 2nd most difficult stand alone trail in So Cal. After this series, sky will be your limit.

This series are designed for hikers serious about advancing their capability. The group will naturally be smaller. Hence, if you sign up but do not show up, you will be barred from the remainding hikes of this series. Your understanding is appreciated.

Timber Moutain via Ice House Canyon trail is one of the best hikes in the San Gabriels Mountains. We will hike up the heart of scenic Icehouse Canyon into the Cucamonga Wilderness to Icehouse Saddle, then to the top of the 8303-foot Timber Mountain. This is a very popular trail, and we plan to visit it agin on the 3rd hike to 3T.
