Music and hiking....Leo Carrillo Beach to Nicholas Pond, in west Malibu

A Hike with guitars...OK, I'm bringing my guitar. All musical instruments are welcome. Or just come to hike.

I play a lot of Beatles and classic rock tunes.

I also take requests: the top request I get is a song called "Rex, you suck, please stop playing".

But I don't know that one...So I can't play it....

ANYWAY:

Total distance: 9 miles, with 1700 feet of uphill in the first 3 miles, then 3 mile loop around Nicholas Flat to the big pond at the top of Nicholas Canyon., and 3 miles back down to the beach. Therefore, the hike is medium to hard level of difficulty, depending on your own skill level.

We're starting at the beach, where we'll check out the tidepools and sea-cave. Then we'll hike up to the pond.

The Ocean views from the natural rock dam that formed the pond are spectacular.

Bring clothing (sorry, nude hikes are a different Meetup group), lots of water--at least 3 liters, hat, comfy shoes, snacks, all your troubles..., guitar, camera, etc

DIRECTIONS: Follow Pacific Coast Highway west of Malibu all the way to the intersection with Mulholland Highway. We will meet at the park entrance driveway on the north side of PCH which is 1000 feet east of the intersection with Mulholland highway.

PARKING: You can either pay a lot to park at the State Park lots or park for free along PCH.
