Details

Join us for a great loop hike on the west side which includes both Parker Mesa Overlook (see photo) and Santa Ynez Canyon Park.

Difficulty: Intermediate
This hike is not appropriate for a beginner hiker or someone who is "out of shape" as there is a long steep incline. We will also keep a good pace. If you are unsure if this is something you are ready for, please contact me (Stein).

The Plan:
We'll meet by the trail information board at the end of the Vereda De La Montura Street (see photo) at about 9:45 AM, do some stretching and introductions etc. and get started at 10:00 AM sharp.

The trail head you see is where we will come down at the end of the hike. We'll start heading west down a lesser known trail that will take us up to Parker Mesa Overlook. From there we'll head up the fire road to Trippet Ranch and down the Santa Ynez Trail to where we started. At Parker Mesa Overlook we'll take a break and have some lunch/snacks.

After the hike let's grab some food in the area. Suggestions are welcome.

Distance:
About 8 miles.

Time Required:
I expect about 4 hours or so.

What To Bring:
- Hiking boots or trail running shoes
- Hydration system (best) or bottle with water or Gatorade etc.
- Sun screen
- Sun glasses
- Some food/snacks for lunch
- Cell phone
- Consider hat
- Consider bug spray
- Consider camera

Directions:
Click here for Google directions to the meeting spot.

Parking:
There should be enough parking on the street before the trail head.
No Shows:
It is inconsiderate to the organizer and anyone on the waiting list to RSVP and not show up, therefore I am registering no-shows. For this event you need to change your RSVP to "No" minimum 1 hour before the start of the event. If you have multiple no-shows on your record you may not be admitted to events where there are people on the waiting list.
