Angeles Christmas almost ALL Night Hike
11:59 p.m. Dec. 22 (Saturday) 'till 4 or 5 AM.(Sunday)
Sponsored by the Hundred Peaks Section of the Sierra Club

Meet at Chinatown Gold Line area at Alameda and Spring St.

Join our annual night hike to give food and clothing to the homeless living on the streets.

We will bring clothing, blankets and food (whatever we can spare) to hand out to the homeless as we walk around skid row in the middle of the night.

Hike approximately 6 miles. Wear warm clothing and sturdy shoes. This event starts at midnight and ends at approx. 5 AM if you eat at the famous Pantry.

BRING: $ for breakfast. More importantly bring something to donate.

ACCEPTABLE ITEMS FOR DONATION:

CLEAN CLOTHES: t-shirts, sweaters, socks, warm hats, gloves, etc.

FOOD ITEMS: sandwiches, cookies, apples, cup o'noodles, juice boxes, think non-perishables. NO CANNED FOODS (they're too heavy)!

PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS: toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, roll on, hand sanitizer

MISCELLANEOUS: blankets, tote bags, duffel bags, bookbags, daypacks

After distribution of food and clothing, the group will crisscross the streets of downtown LA winding up at the Original Pantry about 4 a.m. Sunday for breakfast, then hike or take subway back to Chinatown.

For 31 years, legendary Sierra Club leaders Stag Brown, Bobcat Thompson and Joe Young have led an overnight hike through the Skid Row of Downtown Los Angeles, proving their hearts are as big as their cardiovascular capacity.

This is truly an "Urban Hike" as we put on our backpacks and hiking boots to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Mr. Stag Brown created this annual tradition years ago. For more than 20 years, he has been in charge of the Wednesday night Griffith Park hikes. He also leads hikes for the Hundred Peaks Section. Stag is listed in the Honor Roll of Great Leaders of the Angeles Chapter, alongside his friends Bob "Cat" Thompson and Joe Young.
