Take 2 hours, climb the 282 TALL stairs or take the switch-back trail to the top--we get a 360 degree view from Downtown L.A. to Malibu to Palos Verdes and can watch the sunset. (There are three routes to the top: the stairs, the switchback trail, and Hetzler Road.) Then we explore the various trails on the hilltop.
MEET: Lots of cool people who've recently discovered this park, which opened in 2009.
WHERE: The Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, located on Jefferson Blvd a half mile west of La Cienega Blvd.
MEET WHERE?: at the intersection of Jefferson and Hetzler road. There is a big entrance sign to the park there saying "BALDWIN HILLS SCENIC OVERLOOK".

From our Jefferson Blvd starting point, we take the stairs first to the top of the hill, then head south to the Visitor's Center and restrooms. Then we continue to the upper parking lot. From the parking lot we do first the 0.7 mile Canyon Loop trail, followed by the 1.4 mile Ball Fields Loop trail. Both of these loops start and finish at the upper parking lot. Finally, from the parking lot we then take the 1 mile Switchback trail down to Jefferson Blvd.
