For May we'll be reading DRIVE YOUR PLOW OVER THE BONES OF THE DEAD by Olga Tokarczuk, translated by Antonia Lloyd-Jones!

"Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead is a 2009 Polish novel by Nobel laureate Olga Tokarczuk, a genre-bending work that combines a murder mystery with philosophical and political commentary on animal rights, justice, and sanity. Narrated by the eccentric Janina Duszejko, an elderly woman in a remote Polish village who prefers animals to people, the story follows her investigation into the mysterious deaths of local hunters, whom she believes are being killed by animals in revenge. The novel, praised for its dark humor and unique voice, is a subversive take on crime fiction that questions societal norms and the treatment of marginalized groups, including animals."
This book was short listed for the 2019 International Booker Prize, and the author received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2018, two months after the novel's US release. Antonia Lloyd-Jones' translation was also longlisted for the 2019 National Book Award for translated literature.
