Louisville Bitcoin Meetup
Details
Last-minute update: we're meeting on the ground level, in a room on the side because it's so hot upstairs.
The meeting location is CONFIRMED at DiOrio's, 919 Baxter Ave. Note that the start time is now 4 p.m.!
Now that he has it working, Tim will demonstrate sending a Bitcoin transaction without any Internet connection, using a wireless mesh network. While mesh network coverage today is pretty limited--so this is more of a proof-of-concept demonstration than a practical real-world application--there is quite a bit of promising development on this front. The future looks pretty exciting! We'll talk about where things might go.
Now that the exchange rate for bitcoin has rebounded, we expect attendance will follow suit. Funny how that happens. :-) We certainly welcome all noobies and anyone who is just trying to figure out what all the talk is about. Feel free to invite your friends, family, neighbors.
We will have plenty of time for open discussion, Q&A, technical assistance, etc. If there's a topic you want to discuss, bring it on! And if you are looking to buy or sell or make any other peer-to-peer transaction for bitcoin or any other cryptoasset, there's a good chance you can find a trade partner here.
One last note--DiOrio's has been super kind to host this event and waive their typical group reservation fee. It's not mandatory, but please do consider ordering some food and/or drinks, and be generous toward the wait staff who has to trudge up and down the stairs to serve us.
----------
This is the original (since 2013!) Louisville Bitcoin Meetup, typically scheduled for the first Sunday evening of each month. You might also want to check out our Louisville Cross-Reality Crtpto Club (XRCC) meetup, typically held every Thursday evening.
We also have ad hoc gatherings from time to time. And there are several other fantastic blockchain and crypto meetups in Louisville and surrounding areas. Be sure to check them out as well!
We are always looking for presenters, so if you have a topic you'd like to share with the meetup, please contact the organizers, or just shout it out in the discussion. As long as you are not running some kind of scam or blatantly promoting a scheme in your own self-interest, we are happy to consider just about any topic in the crypto space.
