The new documentary film Join or Die follows the half-century story of America's civic unraveling through the journey of legendary social scientist Robert Putnam. Putnam's groundbreaking book "Bowling Alone" research into America's decades-long decline in community connections could hold the answers to our democracy's present crisis.

Flanked by influential fans and scholars — from Hillary Clinton, Pete Buttigieg, and Surgeon General Vivek Murthy to Eddie Glaude Jr., Raj Chetty, and Priya Parker — as well as inspiring groups building community in neighborhoods across the country, join Bob as he explores three urgent civic questions: What makes democracy work? Why is American democracy in crisis? And, most importantly… What can we do about it?

The Secular Humanists of the Lowcountry are hosting a screening on Sunday, October 6th at 2:30 pm in the auditorium of the Charleston Public Library, main branch. The run time is 1 hour and 39 minutes. We will have some time for discussion after the film for those who wish to stay.

This screening is free and open to the public. However, SHL paid a $500 screening fee, so we are asking for donations to offset the cost. Terms of use for the library's meeting rooms prohibits collecting money, so we will not be collecting donations at the screening. Donate at https://square.link/u/ejLma5pC
