The Friendly Infidels Movie Club: The Phoenician Scheme

Join your humanist friends to see the new Wes Anderson film, The Phoenician Scheme. We are going to the 2:40 pm showing at the Terrace Theater on Sunday, July 6th.

The Phoenician Scheme is a globe-trotting, darkly comic espionage adventure from writer/director Wes Anderson. Set in a whimsically off-kilter 1950s world, the film follows an eccentric tycoon, his unlikely companions, and a web of intrigue that spans continents and ideologies. Starring Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, and Bryan Cranston—alongside a who’s who of Anderson regulars—the film delivers stunning visuals and a rich ensemble performance. With Anderson’s signature blend of wit, melancholy, and meticulous design, The Phoenician Scheme is a stylish meditation on power, redemption, and the unexpected ties that bind.

After the movie those who wish will be going to Pho Saigon, located at 1739 Maybank Hwy, for drinks, food and to discuss the film. If you don't want to attend the showing, feel free to join us to discuss the film afterwards. We should get there between 4:30 and 5 pm, depending on the number of commercials and previews.

Movie Selection:
The SHL Movie club normally meets on the first Sunday of the month. Films are usually chosen by a ranked choice vote. An email with the voting link is sent to the movie club mailing list about 10 days before the film.
