Come see the film Project Hail Mary with your non-religious friends from the Secular Humanists of the Lowcountry (SHL)! We are going to the 3:40 pm showing at the Citadel Stadium 16 theater in West Ashley on Friday, March 20, 2026.

If you have not read the really excellent book by Andy Weir, do yourself a favor and read it before watching any trailers for the film. The trailers spoil the book. All I will say about the story is it is an action packed sci-fi adventure in which Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) is on an interstellar mission to save the earth. The book is amazing and I have high hopes for the film.

You can use the link below to purchase tickets. Tickets are assigned seating. Sit wherever you like, but we encourage you to check the comments below to see which seats your SHL friends have purchased, and buy seats next to them, in front of them, behind them, near them… then post your seat choice in the comments.

After the movie those who wish will be going to dinner at Taste of India, located at 1280 Sam Rittenberg Blvd in West Ashley for drinks, food and to discuss the film. If you don't want to attend the showing, feel free to join us to discuss the film afterwards. We should get there around 6:30 pm, depending on the number of commercials and previews. If you want to reach out to me ahead of time, I'd be happy to text you when we leave the theater. Please just let me know so I can try to get a big enough table.

You can buy tickets at:

Additional info:

  • Tickets bought online $12
  • The running time for the film is 2:36 plus or minus commercials and previews.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, SHL has funds available to ensure everyone feels welcome and able to participate. If the cost of participation presents a challenge, please email us at shl@lowcountryhumanists.org, and we can discreetly arrange to cover your costs.
