Day of the Dead 2026

Join the Secular Humanists of the Lowcountry for a special Day of the Dead celebration devoted to remembering and celebrating those we have loved and lost—friends, family members, or pets. We'll create colorful memorials together, share a potluck meal, and spend the afternoon sharing stories and memories of those who have been important in our lives. This isn't intended to be a somber occasion, but a celebration of life, love, and memory.

Honeycup Picnic Shelter at Pine Trace Park, Ladson

We'll provide craft supplies so you can create a memorial “headstone” with names, dates, an epitaph, photographs, drawings, decorations, or whatever feels meaningful. You can also make your memorial in advance and bring it with you. We'll display the memorials together and spend time sharing the stories behind them.

The event will also be a potluck, so please bring a dish to share for our potluck.

We'll also have decorations, music, paper flowers, crafts, and face painting. Feel free to dress colorfully and festively for the occasion.
This is a family-friendly, all-ages event, and you don't need to create a memorial to participate. Come for the food, activities, company, and a different way of remembering and celebrating those we have lost.
