The Friendly Infidels Movie Club: Verity
Details
Join your humanist friends to see the dark, seductive psychological thriller Verity. We are going to the 3:40 pm showing at the Citadel Mall Stadium 16 Theater on Sunday, October 4th.
Based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, Verity stars Dakota Johnson, Anne Hathaway, and Josh Hartnett. Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer hired to finish a successful book series after its author, Verity Crawford (Hathaway), is incapacitated by an accident. While staying at the remote Crawford estate and sorting through Verity’s papers, Lowen discovers a disturbing autobiographical manuscript filled with shocking revelations about Verity, her husband Jeremy (Hartnett), and their family. As Lowen becomes increasingly drawn to Jeremy—and increasingly suspicious of Verity—the line between truth and fiction, victim and villain, begins to blur. Directed by Michael Showalter, Verity promises a twisty, sexually charged mystery built around an unsettling question: Who, if anyone, can be trusted?
You can use the link below to purchase tickets. Tickets are assigned seating. Sit wherever you like, but we encourage you to check the comments here on Meetup to see which seats your SHL friends have purchased, and buy seats next to them, in front of them, behind them, near them… then post your seat choice back in the comments.
After the movie those who wish will be going to dinner at Rio Chico Mexican Restaurant, located at 1975 Magwood Dr in West Ashley, for drinks, food and to discuss the film. If you don't want to attend the showing, feel free to join us to discuss the film afterwards. We should get there some time between 5:40 and 6 pm, depending on the number of commercials and previews. If you want to reach out to me ahead of time, I'd be happy to text you when we leave the theater. Please just let me know so I can try to get a big enough table.
