It's been a while, Sydney Sitecore community. Too long, actually. So we're getting the band back together - and we want you there. **What's happening?** This isn't a formal meetup with slides and speakers. Consider it a reboot. We're meeting up at Fortress in Chippendale to reconnect, catch up, and talk about what you actually want from the Sydney SUG in 2026 and beyond. Bring your opinions. Bring your ideas. Bring your war stories. **We want to hear:** * What topics matter to you right now? * ·What format works - deep dives, demos, lightning talks, pure networking? * How can we make this community genuinely useful? **The details:** * Wednesday 4 March * 5:30pm onwards * [Fortress Sydney](https://maps.app.goo.gl/7KWWFBzqCeMTNjAQA), Central Park Mall, Level 2/28 Broadway, Chippendale NSW 2008, Australia * Drinks and good conversation Whether you've been in the Sitecore world for years or you're newer to the ecosystem, come along. Winners can choose from tools like IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate, PyCharm, WebStorm, Rider, and more. Talks Talk 1: How to use Gemini to search and bag your first or next tech job In this era of AI and agents, to stay ahead of the competition in this difficult job market, you must leverage AI tools, even for your job search and interview preparation. While you should not use AI to cheat in the interview, you should use it to search for and find the right roles and to research the company, so you can better prepare yourself and increase your chances of getting the job offer. In this talk, you will learn how to use Gemini and other tools that use Gemini in the background to get a fair advantage when you search for your first or next tech job. You will also learn more about the hiring process and interview stages, and get useful tips to help your application move into the top 20% of applicants. In this demo-filled talk, you will pick up how to use Gemini deep research, guided learning, live share (for on-demand interview preparation), and Notebook LM to your advantage. Be smart: let AI (Gemini) do the hard work so you can get the desired outcome without outsourcing the thinking. What you’ll learn: Gemini Deep Research: How to use Gemini to sniff out the roles that actually fit your stack. The Power of NotebookLM: Organizing your interview prep and research about the company. Live Share: Using AI as a mock interviewer that actually gives helpful feedback. Guided Learning: learning something step by step in bite-sized pieces The Golden Rule: Let AI handle the heavy lifting and data crunching, but never outsource the actual thinking. AI & Society | Parramatta | AI, Place & the Future of Western Cities

AI & Society | Parramatta | AI, Place & the Future of Western Cities

Thu, Feb 26, 6:30 AM
From AI & Society Lab — Sydney
4.5

Parramatta is entering a defining chapter — rapidly growing as a major economic, cultural, and innovation centre in Australia’s west. At the same time, artificial intelligence is transforming how we work, learn, govern, and build cities. This raises an important question: **How can regions use AI to leap ahead?** This AI & Society event brings together curious minds - students, professionals, founders, policymakers, educators, and community members to explore how **technology, talent, and place** intersect in the AI era. Across a short framing talk and guided small-group discussions, we’ll explore some questions like: * How AI can amplify local talent and expand opportunity beyond traditional tech hubs * What responsible, place-based AI adoption looks like in practice * How communities can lead in the AI age A conversation about **people, possibility, and the future of cities**. Whether you are deeply involved in AI or simply curious about what it means for Western Sydney, you are invited to join this open civic gathering in Parramatta. **AI & Society** is a community exploring the human side of artificial intelligence across cities, industries, and everyday life.

Code Health Guardian: The Old-New Role of Human Software Engineers in the Al Era

Code Health Guardian: The Old-New Role of Human Software Engineers in the Al Era

Wed, Mar 11, 7:00 AM
From Domain-Driven Design (DDD) Australia
4.6

We start off the year with a banger with a talk from Artie Shevchenko. **Agenda:** 6:00pm - Door Opens. Food arrives, networking 6:30pm - Welcome 6:45pm - Artie Shevchenko - Code Health Guardian 7:30pm - More Networking 8:00pm - It's a wrap Millions of us will soon need to compete with AI. As it reshapes the tech industry, how will you ensure your skills remain indispensable? It’s unlikely that attempting to pivot and rapidly become AI experts, as some suggest, is the best strategy. After all, AI development and integration appear to be the tasks perfectly suited for AI itself. Artie Shevchenko, a former Google software engineer and lecturer at ITMO University, believes a far better approach may be to grow faster and deepen your expertise in managing code complexity. That’s because complex reasoning is hard for AI, and in programming, the most intellectually challenging problem is keeping codebases reasonably simple. Although the skill of keeping code healthy has been a hallmark of seniority for decades, it’s going to become even more crucial in the upcoming AI era, as an average programmer, instead of coding, will soon be mostly working on code health and the overall architecture. This book will prepare you for that future. It will accelerate your growth and equip you with just enough theory to understand the relative value of all sorts of techniques, principles, and best practices so that you can navigate and prioritize them well. Master managing code complexity today and position yourself as the best candidate for the old–new role of human software engineers in the upcoming AI era—the role of a Code Health Guardian. https://codehealthguardian.com/
