Haunted Hike Through Walhalla Ravine

**Dare to Enter Walhalla Ravine?** There are places in Columbus where the city seems to disappear. Walk far enough into **Walhalla Ravine**, beneath the old trees and steep wooded hillsides, and the traffic grows distant. The houses above become harder to see. The path narrows, shadows gather beneath the canopy, and suddenly it becomes very easy to understand why people have been telling strange stories about this place for generations. Stories of **murder, apparitions beneath the bridge, unexplained lights, and the thing once whispered about as the Walhalla Witch** have become part of Clintonville folklore. Most have been embellished over the years. Some can be debunked. Others are simply stories with no way left to determine where the truth ended and the legend began. We’re going in anyway. **Disclaimer:** This is **NOT a scripted ghost tour**, and **I’m NOT a professional storyteller. I'm not here to entertain.** **Think of it more as a group adventure**: we’ll hike, explore, discuss the legends and history, and see some of the locations that inspired the stories for ourselves. Come prepared to walk, explore, and get a little off the beaten path. **Click Here: [Read about the ghosts and legends of Walhalla Ravine](https://thearcanefoundry.com/daclaud-lee/haunted-columbus/walhalla-ravine-the-ghosts-witch-legends-of-columbus-ohio/?utm_source=chatgpt.com)** This is a FREE event. Tips are appreciated (but never required) for showing you the hidden paths and lesser-known parts of the ravine. Just a reminder: **if you RSVP, please make every effort to attend.** This is going to be a 3-mile hike, so please make sure you can do this. There may also be some slightly rugged terrain (nothing too crazy) but depending on where we end up, there might be some light climbing. **OPTIONAL:** Afterward, anyone who wants to keep the evening going can join us nearby for drinks at Derive Brewing Company or pizza and drinks at Hounddog’s.

Columbus Yarn Club at the Grandview Heights Library

5:45-7:45 in Conference Room A, Library lower level. Bring your yarn projects, meet new friends. If you plan to attend, please RSVP yes. If you can’t attend, please change your RSVP to no. This helps anyone who is waitlisted and it allows me to have an accurate count of attendees as our space is quite limited. Plenty of parking in the lot, in the overflow lot across the street, and on the street. See you there!

The History of Concrete + Dinner at Cazuelas

**“An absurd triumph.”** - *The Guardian* **“An amazingly funny and touching film.”** - *The Daily Beast* **"Hilarious. John Wilson is the Werner Herzog of the mundane”** *\- The Hollywood Reporter* How does a filmmaker get the green light for their dream documentary during an industry contraction? If you’re the mastermind behind HBO’s *How To with John Wilson*, you attend a workshop on pitching Hallmark movies, then apply all the same best practices to your own film: an in-depth investigation of concrete. With his first feature, Wilson continues his methodology of starting with a straight-forward idea and using it as a jumping off point for absurd and entertaining detours, asides, and digressions. Wilson’s infectious sense of inquiry and laudable desire to retain his artistic freedom in defiance of the powers-that-be guides it all. We'll meet for drinks and dinner at 5:00 at the Campus Gateway Cazuela's Mexican Cantina. We'll then attend the 6:30 PM show next door at the Gateway Film Center. You’re also welcome to join us for just dinner or just the movie.

Paint a Pumpkin! - Phantasma by Kaylie Smith

Let's paint some mini pumpkins while we discuss our October pick: Phantasma by Kaylie Smith Event: Please bring a bag of individually wrapped candies to share! Pumpkins and Paint will be provided. Book description: Welcome to Phantasma. There are only two rules to the game. Stay alive. And don’t fall in love. When Ophelia’s sister disappears, there is only one way to save her. Ophelia must enter Phantasma, a deadly contest inside a haunted mansion, and claim its prize—a single wish. Phantasma is a maze of twisting corridors and lavish ballrooms, of demons and temptations. Ophelia will face nine challenges, each more dangerous than the last. There can only be one winner, and the other contestants will stop at nothing to eliminate their rivals. Every day the house creates new monsters. But just as Ophelia’s fears threaten to overwhelm her, a mysterious stranger offers her a bargain. Charming, arrogant and infuriatingly attractive, Blackwell claims he can guide her through the lethal trials ahead. All he asks in return is ten years of her life. Ophelia knows she shouldn’t trust him. Blackwell doesn’t seem dangerous, but appearances can be deceptive. Worse still, she feels a dark and irresistible attraction drawing them closer and closer. Her life is on the line. But in Phantasma, the only thing deadlier than losing the game is losing your heart…
