Thursday Training

We are a branch of **Tenshinshō-den Katori Shintō-ryū**, training under the **Shinbukan Dōjō in Narita, Japan**, one of Japan’s oldest classical martial traditions (*koryū bujutsu*), preserving techniques passed down for over five centuries. Our group welcomes individuals with a sincere interest in traditional martial arts and a commitment to long-term, disciplined study. Training is non-commercial — fees are minimal, the **first week is free**, and **parking is available**. Sessions are held **every Tuesday, except NSW public holidays**. To start, all you need is **comfortable clothing**, better if it is a keikogi and hakama. Equipment is provided for beginners, and guidance will be given later if you continue training seriously. Practice begins with **kenjutsu** using the *bokutō* (wooden sword) and progresses to **iaijutsu** (using a *iaitō*). Later we also study **bō** (staff) and **naginata** (glaive). After several years, practitioners may train in **nitō-ryū** (dual swords), **kodachi** (short sword), **yari** (spear), and other parts of the curriculum.
