Sunday Indoor Football

Sun, May 24, 12:45 AM
From Sunday Indoor Football
4.9

Friendly game of five a side indoor football (soccer). Indoor trainers/boots. No studs. Played on timber floor. Bibs will be supplied. Game Rules: Kick ins from the side. Goal keeper must throw the ball out when the ball goes behind. No slide tackles. After each goal a spot kick is taken and the opposing team must stand behind the white line (you'll understand when you get there). Keeper rotates every 6 minutes. If you need to pull out of the game for any reason, please RSVP no and then message the event so that another can potentially fill your spot. Please note that you should do this at least 48 hours (the sooner the better) before the game to allow the chance for someone to take your spot. If we are unable to fill the spot then I will not be able to refund you. Thank you.

This match is strictly for 18 years and older players at the Advanced level. Please register to play so everyone knows the approximate numbers. Please arrive on time to lend a hand in setting up the goals. If you arrive late, you may need to wait to substitute in or create a new game with others using available cones. Please have the courtesy to de-register if you are unable to attend at all. Please wear a black or white top, or bring both. It is up to you to manage your own risk of injury, as this is social and free. We recommend shin guards and do NOT condone sliding tackles and over-aggressiveness. If you have a size 5 soccer ball, then please bring it along. Pump it up to 8 psi beforehand or ask around for a pump. Please place your possessions in a safe place while the game is running. Your possessions are your own responsibility. Post-match, please help with packing up the goals, bibs and cones. 2-3 people per goal makes very light work and only takes 3 minutes. This smaller half-pitch match is strictly for **35 years and older** players only, as well as **not for beginners**. You must register to play. Please arrive on time to lend a hand in setting up the goals. A Roll Call for registered players is conducted. If you arrive late, you will need to join one of the other remaining open-age matches and relinguish your spot for someone who is on the waiting list and has come on-time. Please have the courtesy to de-register if you are unable to attend at all. Please wear a black or white top, or bring both so teams can be easily divided evenly. We recommend shin guards as the game is competitive and a contact sport. It is up to you to manage your own risk of injury, as this is social and free. However, we do NOT condone sliding tackles and over-aggressiveness. Please place your possessions in a safe place while the game is running. Your possessions are your own responsibility. Post-match, please help with packing up the goals, bibs and cones. 2-3 people per goal makes very light work and only takes 3 minutes. Book Review Group - May 2026

Book Review Group - May 2026

Thu, May 21, 9:00 AM
From The Melbourne Sci-Fi & Fantasy Meetup Group
4.7

Hi all, Welcome to our May book club! We are a friendly group of avid readers that enjoy a variety of books and great conversation, over a meal. New members are welcome but spaces are limited. The books for Thursday 21 May 2026 are: **Science Fiction** Of Monsters and Mainframes by Barbara Truelove [Of Monsters and Mainframes by Barbara Truelove | Goodreads](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/216540053-of-monsters-and-mainframes) **Fantasy** A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin [A Wizard of Earthsea (Earthsea Cycle, #1) by Ursula K. Le Guin | Goodreads](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13642.A_Wizard_of_Earthsea) **Urban Fantasy** Go back, and re-read the book that first got you hooked into Urban Fantasy books. Books set a mondern time, with a recognisable urban type landscape. Was it Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, the Dresden Files, Mercy Thompson, Sookie Stackhouse or maybe Twilight that inspired you to read more books like this. You don't have to read all the books. However, the more you read, the more robust the conversation will be with multiple people discussing each book. Don't forget to bring along some Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Urban Fantasy suggestions for the following meet-up! If you would like to see all the books (excluding bonus books) that we have read before, click [here](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1K96OI_w3AIBzkDVWXenQNc6mYbZ2cMvfRnzVehkp9Bo/edit#gid=0) to have a look. Since there are so many authors out there, we try not to repeat authors, however, I am relaxing this slightly moving forward. If you are new(ish) to the group, check out the back catalogue for some inspiration if you are stuck for something to read. Numbers are limited. If you can’t make it, please change your RSVP to a NO as a courtesy to the organiser and to let any wait-listed people into the meet-up. If you have time, stay back for a social catch up with your fellow book club members. Of course, you can go as soon as the book club finishes, but if you have time, then this is a great opportunity to find out all the news and what books people have been reading over the last couple of months. Happy Reading!!! 🤓😊
