Community Meal Service at Good Shepherd (Toronto)

Sun, May 24, 5:30 PM
From Toronto Joy
4.7

An opportunity to serve the homeless and those at risk as a group. During our recent sessions, we served meals, chopped veggies, made sandwiches, and helped prepare pasta. Each session is similar; however, tasks may vary depending on the need at hand (e.g., sorting food). *We had a great time serving together with lots of smiles and good energy.* **Only 6 spots are available. Please RSVP only if you are sure you can attend.** The organization counts on our confirmed number to plan for the day, so no-shows and last-minute cancellations create challenges for both the team and the service being provided. When you arrive at Reception, the staff will guide you to the volunteer room, where you can place your belongings in a locker and meet the group. **Before attending, please review and complete the Toronto Joy waiver form:** [https://forms.gle/1fsK9vYz6b6yDdeBA](https://forms.gle/1fsK9vYz6b6yDdeBA) Below are simple guidelines from the Ministry on what to wear, safety, etc.: [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1piAyloECv9YUDkPJuoJBdCmh3x8n1un1rGvJSFIkbs4/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1piAyloECv9YUDkPJuoJBdCmh3x8n1un1rGvJSFIkbs4/edit?usp=sharing) **Good to know:** * **Closed-toe shoes are required.** * *Tie back long hair; minimal jewelry.* * **Please arrive by *1:40 PM at the latest*** so we can plan who will be doing which roles and begin together. * If you can’t make it due to an emergency, please message me as soon as possible 🙏 Grateful to serve alongside you.

From World of Wanderers Toronto/GTA Community

**Curious About Camping / Car Camping? Come Try It with Us!** Curious about camping but don’t want to go alone? Join **me and my partner** for a relaxed, beginner‑friendly **1‑night camping getaway near the Blue Mountains**—just 2 hours from Toronto. *(P.S. Yes, we’ve already found campsite availability!)* This is a **pay‑your‑own‑way, community‑led trip**—no pressure, no prior camping experience needed. The goal is simple: connect with like‑minded people, try camping together, and enjoy the outdoors without overplanning. **👋 Who are we?** **I’m Sampada,** a travel enthusiast turned corporate slave 😅. I’ve traveled extensively and previously worked as travel leader, so I come with plenty of stories and a deep love for building travel communities. **My partner, Dinesh**, is a total foodie with humor and spontaneity running through his veins. We both love traveling, meeting new people, and creating meaningful experiences. We truly believe **Toronto needs more real, human, travel‑driven communities**, and this is our small first step toward building one. Just send a message and we can chat more – no judgements here! **🏕️ What to expect** * Carpool or drive down together * Set up tents or car‑camp as a group * Simple meals cooked together *or* eat out nearby (totally flexible!) * Campfire conversations, laughter, and easy social vibes * Light planning, lots of flexibility, and space to just disconnect * No professional itinerary – bring your spontaneous self 🎯 **Perfect for you if:** * You’ve always wanted to try camping but felt hesitant alone * You’re new to camping or new to Toronto * You’re craving connection, nature, and a low‑pressure weekend If you’ve been waiting for “your people” to go camping with—this might just, be it 🌄
