See all- Learning How to See: Rediscover Your Creative InspirationLink visible for attendees
Every nature photographer, no matter how experienced or passionate, goes through creative droughts. Maybe the excitement you once felt while shooting has faded. Maybe you’re overwhelmed by pressure to produce “great” images, or you're doubting your abilities or talent. Maybe it just feels like a chore to get out the door with your camera.
If you’ve been feeling creatively stuck, disconnected from your work, or unsure of what you’re trying to say as a photographer, you’re not alone. And more importantly, you’re not stuck forever.
The truth is, inspiration doesn’t come from chasing new locations or buying new camera gear - it comes from noticing what’s already in front of you
Join professional nature and landscape photographer Meredith Fontana for a virtual presentation where you will be invited to reconnect with your creative voice and see the world through your lens in new ways.
This isn’t a technical workshop about camera settings, post-processing, or cliche shortcuts to creating better images.
This is a talk about ideas and practices that will help you shift your mindset, feel more inspired to create, and reconnect with who you are as a photographer.
In this talk, you'll learn how to:
- Understand the difference between looking and seeing, and why it matters for your art.
- Identify and overcome common limiting beliefs that leave you uninspired.
- Reconnect with the intuition and creativity that you were born with.
- Develop daily practices to train your eye and build consistent creative momentum.
- Cultivate visual mindfulness as a tool for creating meaningful work.
- Embrace imperfection, experimentation, and the unknown as essential parts of the creative process.
- Move past fear, comparison, and the need for external validation.
You don’t need a new lens, a dramatic landscape, or the perfect light to create meaningful images. Everything you need is already within you.
There will be time after the presentation to ask questions and connect with the instructor.
Price: Free!

- Making the Image: From Visualization to RealizationLink visible for attendees
It’s not uncommon for photographers to state that their final images fall short of what they feel they saw during the act of making a photo. There is often a divide between our creative vision, or what we see with our mind’s eye, and our final realization of that vision.
Often, that disconnect is due to our inability to translate what drew us to photograph a scene into something that works in a static, two-dimensional photo. In this session, we’ll explore how to recognize what first compels us to press the shutter and then how to bring that moment to life for ourselves and our viewers in the final edited version of a photo. We’ll discuss some of the following concepts:
- Finding the moment and scene when working in the field
- Managing expectations to avoid tunnel vision and disappointment
- Reflecting on what the heart of the scene is as we begin the editing process
- Understanding how to leverage different editing techniques to realize our creative vision and convey the photo’s heart to our viewers
You’ll learn how to recognize, and critique, your creative vision more consciously from composition to edit, allowing you to more effectively realize that vision for yourself and your viewers.
