About us

### Welcome to the Lux Finance Circle

Our Mission: To Build a Community of Empowered, Evidence-Based Investors.
This is a group for finance enthusiasts, professionals, and anyone in Luxembourg serious about building long-term wealth through a rational, evidence-based approach.
We reject the "get-rich-quick" narratives and market noise that dominate financial media. Instead, our focus is on timeless principles, data-driven strategies, and the disciplined application of knowledge. Our goal is to create a space for intelligent, open-minded discussion where we can learn from each other and hold ourselves to a higher standard of financial thinking.

### What to Expect from Our Events:

This is not a typical lecture series. Our meetups are structured as casual, discussion-based gatherings designed to foster genuine connection and shared learning.

  • Engaging Topics: Each event is centered on a specific, relevant topic in investing or personal finance.
  • Expert Facilitation: Your host, Romain Lucas, will kick off each discussion with a brief, value-packed introduction to frame the conversation.
  • Community-Driven Dialogue: The majority of our time is dedicated to open Q&A and group discussion, where your questions and experiences drive the conversation.

### Who Should Join?

This group is for you if you are a lifelong learner who believes in a disciplined, long-term approach to building wealth. Everyone is welcome, from the curious beginner ready to learn the fundamentals to the seasoned professional who enjoys debating advanced concepts.
Our only rule is that you come with an open mind and a willingness to both share your knowledge and challenge your own assumptions.

### About the Organizer:

This group is organized by Romain Lucas, a finance coach and the founder of Smart Money Growth. His mission is to empower European investors with the knowledge and frameworks to manage their own financial futures with confidence. He achieves this through free educational content, this community, and private one-on-one coaching and mentorship programs.

πŸš€ UPDATE: MEETUP CAPACITY LIMITED (Moving to Luma)

RSVPs are limited on Meetup, but we have opened additional spots on our new official platform, Luma. πŸ‘‰ Secure your priority spot here: https://luma.com/ipbl7owl
ℹ️ Why are we moving to Luma? We are progressively moving the Lux Finance Circle to Luma to offer a cleaner, professional experience:

πŸ“’ Welcome to our next Lux Finance Circle meetup!
You want to make a decision about your money, so you ask around. Your bank offers a meeting. A colleague forwards a link. YouTube has someone very confident with a whiteboard, Reddit has a thread with 400 replies, and an insurance broker knows exactly what you need. A few hours later you have more opinions than you started with and no way to rank them.

PS: Want in before the waitlist? New events are announced early in our Community WhatsApp: https://whatsapp.smoney.lu

Very little of that is dishonest. Almost nobody in the chain is neutral, though, and the incentive behind the advice rarely comes up in the conversation. The person across the desk has a product shelf and a target. The site comparing brokers earns on the one it puts first. And most personal finance content online is written for the US, the UK or France, so it assumes accounts and tax rules that do not exist here.
This edition is about the filter rather than the answers: how to work out who pays the person advising you, and how to check a claim when finance is not your job.

    🧭 Format of the Event
This is a casual, discussion-based gathering with no long presentations. We'll sit around the table, and your host Romain will kick things off with a short introduction covering:

    • The three ways money advice gets paid for in Luxembourg (commission, fees, and "free"), and what each one predictably does to the recommendation you receive
    • The questions that expose a conflict of interest in about two minutes, and the answers that should end the meeting
    • Why most personal finance content online does not apply to you here, and how to spot that before you act on it
    • How to verify a claim about fees, taxes or a product when you have no background in finance, and where the primary sources actually live

The same test applies to everyone handing you information, your host included, and we will run it on him too.
From there, we open the floor for discussion. Bring your sources, your bank meeting stories, and your skepticism.

    πŸ‘₯ Who Can Join?
Everyone is welcome. This discussion will be especially valuable if you are:

    • Someone who came out of a bank or insurance meeting holding a product you still cannot fully explain.
    • A professional who reads a lot about investing and cannot tell which of it applies in Luxembourg.
    • Anyone friends and family come to for money questions, who wants a cleaner way to answer than "I think".

    🀝 Bring a Colleague
Know someone about to sign something after a single meeting at their bank? Bring them along.
