This group is very diverse and dynamic, and will host many hikes that include hiking, exploring, and having fun in Las Vegas' own backyard.
Red Rock, Late Night Trail, Mt. Charleston, Lake Mead, and the surrounding areas, including and not limited to Arizona Hot Springs.
Looking to grow this group of members who love and appreciate the outdoors. Let's grow this group so we can continue exploring and sharing our adventures!

Also, I will be hosting a Cowboy Fitness Series in the fall. This is a progressive series that trains you for ascention and stamina and helps you maintain your fitness level so you may continue hiking at an advanced level.

To help us get everyone on the trail safely and efficiently, please complete the Trail Ready participant waiver before the hike. Completing it in advance helps speed up the check-in process so we can spend less time on paperwork and more time enjoying the trail.

If you've already completed a participant waiver with me, even better, there's nothing else you need to do.This loop hike begins on the North Loop Trail, climbing through cool mountain forest to one of Mt. Charleston's most remarkable landmarks—the ancient Raintree bristlecone pine, estimated to be over 3,000 years old. From there, we'll descend through Wildhorse Canyon, creating a scenic and rewarding loop that offers varied terrain, beautiful forest scenery, and cooler summer temperatures.
This hike is ideal for hikers looking to build endurance, become more comfortable hiking at higher elevations, and enjoy one of the most unique trails in the Mt. Charleston area.HIKE QUICK STATS:
- Trailhead: Wildhorse Canyon
- Distance: 6 miles
- Elevation Gain: ≈ 1,600 feet
- Altitude: between 8,440 and 10,000 feet
- Difficulty/pace: Moderately strenuous
- Class: 1
- Exposure: None
- Duration: 6.5 hours (includes hiking and driving.
- No guests, children/minors, canines, or event crashers, please!
- All attendees must be members of VegasHikers. Signing up only takes a couple of minutes, and it's FREE.
GEAR:
- Hiking boots or trail shoes are required
- Trekking poles are optional but very helpful
- 2-3L of water, sun protection, snacks & electrolytes
- Carry a windbreaker, warm gloves, and a hat when hiking in the Mt Charleston area
Everything I Need Before I Arrive
Carpool Location:
Please arrive by 6:45 am. We leave promptly at 7 am! We all meet in the Santa Fe Casino East parking garage on the 3rd floor, then turn left to section 3F. There are two garages; one is visible from Hwy 95 (that is the wrong garage); the other is near the intersection of Lone Mountain Road and Rancho (that is the correct garage). We will form carpools for the drive to the trailhead.Must have a current profile photo. Everyone starts on the waitlist.
