Python habitats: Virtual environments, Anaconda, and IDEs/editors
Details
This month we'll be talking about developer environments in python. I'll talk about virtual environments and the many ways to do them in python (python3's venv package, the third-party packages virtualenv and virtualenvwrapper, and the pyenv project). I'll also take a deep dive into Anaconda -- a scientific python distribution system.
For the second half of the meeting we'll be discussing IDEs. Tim Lancina will talk about remote debugging in PyCharm. Devin Conathan will talk about environment management with a similar JetBrains product, IntelliJ IDEA with plugins for Python development.
Here's the distribution of IDEs and editors currently used by Madpy members -- at least those who have taken the Madpy Habits survey. We're up to 22 responses. If you want, you can take it here: bit.ly/madpy-habits

I'm looking for some people to talk about some of the more interesting features of PyCharm. If you are a PyCharm user, get in touch with me!
