DESCRIPTION

Do you have a million dollar startup business idea? Great! Can a 6-year-old understand it in 30 seconds?

For many entrepreneurs, the difference between success and failure can often come down to how effective they are at communicating their idea. On March 13th, you'll learn the 7 basic steps to a successful business pitch. By the end of the class you'll have the skills you need to build relationships with investors and engage potential customers.

This 45-minute class will be lead by Wes Garnett, a user-experience designer and serial entrepreneur with 10+ years of experience launching, building and mentoring startups across multiple industries. Wes (and WiT co-organizer Hilary) is on the organizing committee for Madison Startup Weekend.

WHAT IS STARTUP WEEKEND?

"Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable. On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical or design backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds.

Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening, teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts."

IMPORTANT TO KNOW

There's a parking lot in the back of the YWCA, and various buses stop within a few blocks (S. Park and Burr Oak is the closest stop).
