NOTE: While the vast majority of our events are open to all genders, this event is being organized specifically for women and nonbinary folks. We firmly ask that men respect this and refrain from attending. We're also capping this event at 20 people, so please keep your RSVP up-to-date!

Join us for a moderated, interactive discussion about those times we find ourselves to to be the only one like us in the room:

"Despite the rise of women and enbies in tech, many of us are still the only ones in the room. Let's come together and talk about it.

Being the only woman or enby, or only anything, in a room is an isolating experience that changes how we are able to show up. This community discussion creates space to consider both who we have to be in professional spaces and who we want to be in an ideal situation. We'll discuss strategies to improve your network both inside and outside immediate work spaces with a focus on creating intentional connections that center individual experiences."

ABOUT

This discussion will be led by Sarah Breland (she/her). Sarah earned a mechanical engineering degree at Case Western Reserve University and has worked as a project manager at software companies for the past five years. During the pandemic, she chose to complete a second bachelor's degree in women and gender studies at Arizona State University online. This helped open the door to her leading workshops and speaking on her personal experiences with the aim to create community for those around her.

SCHEDULE

Feel free to arrive anytime between 5:30 and 5:45pm; the discussion will begin at 5:45pm. We will not monitor the entrance after 6pm, so it's imperative to arrive by then.
