ABOUT
From its humble origins in phone trees and voice assistants, to today's innovations such as ChatGPT and Llama, natural language processing (NLP) is a fast-moving field with wide-ranging real-world applications. Yet it's also often shrouded in an air of complexity and exclusivity. How can you work in the field of NLP and language AI without a PhD? In this talk, Julia shares her own experience from nearly a decade in the field. She presents her past consumer-facing projects, highlights key concepts and challenges, and outlines skills and opportunities across various industry job roles.
SPEAKER
Julia Kroll is an Applied Engineer at Deepgram, where she blends her expertise in engineering and product to advise users in building language AI. Her work has focused on multi-lingual AI, voice assistants, and cloud computing. Her interests lie at the intersection of technology, linguistics, and society.
