ABOUT

The web, mobile applications, and virtual communications are woven into our lives. But "knots" and "missing" information often block access by people with disabilities. Everyone can and has a role to serve-up digital access from the start.

Providing accessible materials online and in-print is integral in effective communication, equal opportunity, and non-discrimination under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Come engage in best practices and resources to weave digital access into your work, programs, training, and media.

SPEAKER

Marsha Schwanke is a web specialist for the Southeast ADA Center, one of ten grant-funded regional ADA Centers in the ADA National Network that provides information, training, and resources on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and disability rights.

Since 2000, she has been designing, testing, and managing web projects, media, training, and digital materials with a focus on maximizing usability and accessibility based on “best practices” research and established guidelines. Marsha brings her passion and experience in sharing about and providing accessible digital materials and communications – Access On!

Feel free to arrive anytime between 6pm and 6:15pm; presentation will begin at 6:15pm.

Hawthorne Public Library is located on the east side of Madison, near Goodman Community Center.

ACCESSIBILITY / INCLUSION

Hawthorne Public Library is wheelchair accessible. The speaker will be mic'd. All genders are welcome. We're checking on the existence of gender neutral bathrooms.
