An extra bird walk to start the holidays. We will explore the lagoons at Velilla de San Antonio, where we are sure to see a selection of waterbirds (ducks, grebes, herons), woodland birds (woodpeckers, tits) and raptors (marsh harriers and kites).

Meet at the parking area (See map) at 9, and we'll spend about 3 hours around the lagoons. The paths are good, but bring sturdy shoes and warm clothes in case it is a cold day!

I'll bring the telescope and some bird guides to help with identification and hopefully we will all get great views of some of Madrid's iconic species.

Velilla is accessible on public transport (bus 282 or 284). I can help with lifts from Barajas/Canillejas as well. Drop me a message on 638135998 if you are interested, and I can add you to the Whatsapp group as well.

Hope to see you there. We'll toast the holidays (and hopefully some good birds) with a cup of mulled wine.

The event has a 5E voluntary contribution to help with Meetup costs.
