One of the Beautiful Hiking Trail outside Madrid. San Rafael is famous for all time green mountains ( covered by pine tress) with many hiking trails and small Rivers. The most interesting part is Refugio de cueva valiente. A very well restored refuge with incredible views with Altitude 1.915m from the sea level and There are many remains of the civil war.
Note: We will be going and coming back to Madrid on the same day. we will try to enjoy the maximum of this lovely hiking trail. This time come with enough food because we will have enough time to do picnic in the middle of nature. we will go with normal pace, taking breaks for photos and snacks. At the end of hike we will go to a Local bar for Drinks.

We will meet at underground cercanías train station at Nuevos Ministerios. Platform Number 1 at 9:45am. the trian is leaving at 10:08 am. Please buy your ticket online from Renfe website. Link: https://www.renfe.com/es/en/experiences . our Departure station will be Nuevos miniterios, and distination station will be San Rafael.

Both ways (Roud Trip) ticket cost is 14.80€.

People with Abono joven or Zone C2 Card Holders : You need to buy Ticket from Cerdedilla to San Rafael. Roud trip cost will be 4€.

Our Train (Renfe) line is C8 and this train will pass by, Chamartin, Ramon y Cajal, Pitis, Villaalba and cercedilla Station. so you can join us from your nearest cercanias Station. if you will joining us from different stations please check and confirm the train arrival timing by own. if someone miss the train, it will be not our responsibility and we will not wait.

BY CAR: You can come by Car. meet us at San Rafael Cercanias Station at 11:30am. Google maps: bit.ly/40Drg9R This station has own large Parking Area. if you want to share your car and fuel charges, please mention your whatsapp number, pickup point and departure time in the chat of this event.

We will start the hike after the breakfast or just a coffee at the town of San Rafael. It is necessary to bring hiking shoes, Comfy clothes, summer cap, Sun Glasses, Sun protection Cream. Your lunch, Snacks and 1.5L water (minimum).
in case of rain please come with rain Jacket.

New hiking trial at san juan. we will explore the stunning San Juan Reservoir which is often considered as Madrid´s main beach. The hike is ranked as basic level, no longer than 8km and will mainly go alongside the reservoir coast line. We will visit several coves followed by a swim in the reservoir and a picnic lunch.
Once we have set the picnic area, we will stay there during 3/4 hours while sunbathing, relaxing.

Difficulty: Basic Level

Hike Type: one way (going and coming back on the same way )

Maximum altitude: 690m.

Elevation change: 250m.

Estimated Event Duration: 5-6 hours (depending on pace and stops)

Leaving Madrid: 9:15am

Coming back to Madrid: 17:00 or 18:00pm

By Bus: We are meeting outside of the metro station (Cuatro vientos) You can reach to Cuatro vientos by metro line 10. Meeting point is just out side of the station, please take Paseo de extremadura exit. Meeting time 9:00am. if someone get late, Sorry we will not wait. our bus number 551 will be leaving at 09:15am.
One way on the bus cost is 5,10€. Abono joven and people with Transport card C2 can travel for Free.
Please bring change or a 5€ bill for the bus driver. Bus Driver not Accepting Card Payments, Only Cash.

• Hiking shoes or sneakers. Trainers/tennis shoes are ok for this hike.

• 1,5L of water or other soft drinks per person. PLEASE DON´T BRING LESS, as there are no fountains nor any water point in the whole route. but you can buy water or drinks next to the picnic area.
• Your lunch
• Sunscreen & sunglasses
• A hat or a cap.
• A small sheet for setting at picnic spot, flip flop and swim kit.

in case of Rain we are not going to cancel this event. please bring rainy jacket or a small umbrella.

This is a gorgeous hike that's out of the usual routes. We'll witness its green and lush beauty. Completely off the beaten path except the waterfall area. We'll be rewarded by a natural little gift, a small birch forest, tiny and secluded, that fortunately managed to stay away from human construction and highways, surviving among little creeks and many other tree species such as oaks, poplars, junipers, black firs, hollies, ashes, Douglas pine trees.

This Trail is NOT recommended for initial or basic Hikers.
TYPE: Small Loop
DURATION (with all breaks) 6 h approx including rest, photos, snack, lunch etc.
DISTANCE: 14 km.
DIFFICULTY: Medium Hard
maximum altitude 1400m.
Elavation: 420M
It doesn't have specially steep stretches, it runs in a gradual uphill/downhill, still you'll be walking a 420m incline on the way there and the same on the way downhill, but there will be some short uphills so come prepared to walk!. We will take the bus at 5 or 6 pm for coming back to madrid.

By Bus: we are going by bus. meet us at intercambiador de plaza castilla ( underground bus station of plaza de Castilla) at 09:05 h. For departure at 09:20 h. Bus to Bustarviejo, Level or (Planta) -3. Bus Number 725 Dock 26. One way cost 5,10€ and you pay to the bus driver. The bus does not accept card payment. You have to bring change of € 5 or € 10.

Our New Hiking and Swimming Route. We’re starting in Cotos, a mountain pass at 1842m with cool, clean, pine scented air. We’re hiking a route that takes us below Cabezas de Hierro with phenomenal views of the mountains, especially Peñalara, and the Lozoya Valley! We’ll walk through lots of lush greenery, shady trees, and along streams, pools and waterfalls. The temperature here is always cooler than in Madrid and it’s entirely pollution free! We’re going to have lunch beside a sizeable swimming hole, please bring swimming gear if you want get in. Come join us on this hike and day, complete with shade, greenery, altitude, and a dip in the cold pools, this route is completely cool and refreshing!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Information and Technical Sheet of the Hike:

This medium, loop hike is 12km long with 400m of elevation change. We will take around 5 to 6 hours to walk it with time to hang out for lunch and swimming. There are a few steep and slippery sections and plenty of shade! The path is a blend of wide trails with some single track. We'll start and finish in Cotos. The path leads along a stream and past pools and there are views of the mountains too. We'll have plenty of time to hang out at the water for lunch and swimming/going in the cool water.

Difficulty: Medium Hard Level. NO Initial or Basic hikers. everyone must be fit for doing this activity.

Please bring change or a 5€ or 10€ bill for the bus driver. 5,10€ one way trip on the bus. The bus is free if you have the abono joven and reduced if you have an abono for outside the center!. The bus driver do not accept card Payments.

BY CAR: You can drive by your car and meet us at Restaurante venta marcelino (Google maps: https://bit.ly/3NBmaX9) at Puerto de Cotos between 10:00 - 10:15am. If you are willing to share your car and fuel cost, Please leave your Whatsapp number (obligatory), point and time of pickup area in the chat of this Event.
