🇪🇸 Para este evento, nos reuniremos en la entrada del Museo de Artes y Tradiciones Populares-Centro Cultural La Corrala a las 17:30.

El Centro Cultural La Corrala se encuentra en una antigua vivienda de corredor madrileña, reflejando la típica arquitectura del siglo XIX utilizada para acoger a las familias migrantes en busca de empleo. Aún hoy, Lavapiés, Embajadores y el barrio de La Latina, son las zonas donde mayor número de corralas se concentran, por su cercanía al antiguo matadero y a la Fábrica de Tabacos. Desde su rehabilitación, el edificio tiene una función de centro cultural, y alberga también un Museo de Artes y Tradiciones Populares.

El Museo de Artes y Tradiciones Populares de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid fue inaugurado en 1975 en el campus de Cantoblanco con una donación de más de 2500 piezas realizada por Guadalupe González-Hontoria y Allendesalazar. En 2011, el Museo se trasladó a la corrala de la calle Carlos Arniches, en pleno centro de Madrid, compartiendo sede con el Centro Cultural La Corrala, creando así una interesante fusión entre la tradición popular urbana y rural.

Las colecciones del museo, formadas por piezas de carácter etnográfico procedentes de todo el territorio nacional, se han ido incrementando hasta alcanzar los más de 8000 fondos actuales. En el museo se recogen objetos vinculados a la vida cotidiana, que reflejan el modo de ser de las gentes que los crearon y usaron.

✍️ ¿Qué es el urban sketching?

Es la práctica artística de crear dibujos in situ que capten el carácter único de los paisajes, la arquitectura y las escenas urbanas. Se trata de un encuentro de dibujo libre en el que los participantes deben traer sus propios materiales, pueden elegir sus propios temas y dibujar individualmente o en grupo.

No es necesario tener experiencia previa en dibujo; todos los niveles son bienvenidos. Trae tus materiales artísticos preferidos, como bolígrafos o acuarelas. Para los principiantes, un cuaderno de bocetos, lápices, una goma de borrar y/o bolígrafos serán perfectos.

Después de dibujar, sobre las 20:00, tomaremos algo en un bar cercano.

La Corrala Cultural Center is a corrala - a type of housing found in old Madrid, typically built in the 19th century to house migrant families in search of employment. Nowadays, Lavapiés, Embajadores and the neighborhood of La Latina, are the areas where the greatest number of corralas are concentrated, due to their proximity to the old slaughterhouse (Matadero) and the Tobacco Factory. Today the building serves as a cultural center, and also houses the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions.

**The Museum of Popular Art and Traditions of the Autonomous University of Madrid was inaugurated in 1975 with a donation of more than 2,500 pieces from Guadalupe González-Hontoria y Allendesalazar. It's current location is an old rehabilitated corrala-style building, on Carlos Amiches street, 3-5, headquarters of the Cultural Centre of the UAM "La Corrala", that creates interesting fusion between popular urban and rural traditions.

The collections of the museum, consisting of ethnographic pieces from the entire national territory, have increased until reaching the current number of 8,000. The museum holds objects linked to daily life that reflect the way of life of the people that created and used them.

✍️ What's urban sketching?

It's the artistic practice of creating on-location drawings that capture the unique character of urban landscapes, architecture, and scenes. This event is a free-form urban sketching gathering where participants have to bring their own materials, can choose their own subjects and draw either individually or together with the group.

No prior drawing experience is necessary; all skill levels are welcome. Bring your preferred art materials, such as pens or watercolors. For beginners, a sketchbook, pencils, an eraser, and/or pens will be perfect.

After drawing, at around 20:00, we'll have an optional gathering in a bar closeby.
