What is Very Private Gallery
We've been an independent art blog with a YouTube channel since 2015, and today we form a small but vibrant community of artists and art professionals. Our goal is to offer realistic advice on the art business; and transcend the noise of self-proclaimed art experts to move beyond mere wishful thinking, providing relevant and sometimes unique perspectives. We're entirely self-funded through donations, ensuring the neutrality of our content.
✓ Who: Painters, sculptors, digital artists, designers, printmakers, craftsmen, photographers, art historians, and creative entrepreneurs. This Meetup group is for all creative professionals and enthusiasts who have a passion for art. You are all welcome to join us for a good time!
✓ Why: We enjoy meeting new people and learning from each other. No matter if you are planning to embark on this journey or have worked in the art business for years, we could all share our stories and have fun!
✓ When: We meet fortnightly, usually on the weekends. We might have some extra meetings during art fairs.
✓ Where: We meet at all kinds of art & cultural venues. Art gallery crawls in the city centre, cultural events, museums, parks, and artist studios.
✓ What: We meet, talk, and sip a glass of wine/coffee/tea. We also plan to host workshops that help artists improve their art business or career.

## Remanencias: creencias persistentes
Las creencias irracionales (como la exigencia de aprobación o la necesidad de dependencia) son un concepto que se originó con el libro de Albert Ellis de 1962, Reason and Emotion in Psychotherapy. Originalmente once, desde entonces se han convertido en una referencia habitual para los clínicos. A medida que su terapia evolucionó, la lista creció hasta incluir doce creencias irracionales fundamentales.
Khaula Abbasi, pintora con formación en psicología cognitiva y arteterapia, presenta esta exposición como un viaje a través de doce paisajes abstractos, cada uno de los cuales expresa una de esas creencias.
La exposición comienza con una breve charla de la artista, en la que Khaula compartirá algunas de sus propias creencias irracionales y cómo ha trabajado con ellas.
Cada cuadro es un paisaje, una remanencia extraída de la infancia nómada de Khaula. En conjunto, expresan un viaje concebido para ayudar a los visitantes a identificar sus propias creencias irracionales e imaginar alternativas racionales, simbolizadas como senderos.
Las obras se mostrarán sin título, numeradas simplemente del uno al doce. Se invita a los visitantes a elegir el número del paisaje que más les resuene y a anotarlo en una pequeña tarjeta que se facilitará en la entrada.
A continuación tendrá lugar una mesa redonda con aperitivos y bebidas, en la que los participantes y la artista podrán explorar juntos estas creencias y reflexionar sobre cómo pueden manifestarse en sus propias experiencias cotidianas.
Por último, Khaula revelará el título de cada cuadro, de modo que los participantes puedan descubrir si la obra que más les atrajo corresponde a una creencia que reconocen en sí mismos.
(La charla será en inglés, pero el equipo domina el español, por lo que son bienvenidos aunque no dominen el inglés.)

## Remanences: Lingering beliefs
Irrational beliefs (such as the demand for approval or the need for dependency) are a concept that originated with Albert Ellis's 1962 book, Reason and Emotion in Psychotherapy. Originally eleven, they have since become a standard reference for clinicians. As his therapy evolved, the list grew to include twelve core irrational beliefs.
Khaula Abbasi, a painter with a background in cognitive psychology and art therapy, presents this exhibition as a journey across twelve abstracted landscapes, each expressing one of those beliefs.
The exhibit opens with a brief artist talk by Khaula, who will share some of her own irrational beliefs and how she has worked with them.
Each painting is a landscape, a remanence drawn from Khaula’s nomadic childhood. Together, they express a journey intended to help viewers identify their own irrational beliefs and imagine rational alternatives, symbolized as pathways.
The paintings will be shown without titles, numbered simply from one to twelve. Visitors are invited to choose the number of the landscape that resonates most deeply with them and note it on a small card provided at the entrance.
A roundtable talk with dips and drinks will follow, allowing the participants and the artist to explore these beliefs together and reflect on how they may appear in their own everyday experiences.
Finally, Khaula will reveal the title of each painting, so participants can discover whether the artwork they felt most drawn to corresponds with a belief they recognize in themselves.
