Were you into Magic years ago but you fell out of it? Intimidated by the teens at your local card shop? Haven’t opened a booster since 2010? Then this is the Magic group for you. Magic: The Gathering for Dads/Normies is an excuse to drink beer at breweries throughout the Hwy 36 corridor and shuffle some cards while we do it.
This is a casual group that meets to play commander in a friendly and welcoming setting for folks that don’t have the time or the wallet to brew up the fiercest new decks.
Rules:
- Hygiene. Seriously. No smelly players. Non-negotiable.
- Keep it casual. This group is an excuse to drink beer and chill while playing some cards. Getting worked up over a card game is the opposite of what we’re aiming for.
- Keep it low-level. Aim for bracket 3. The goal here is for games to be “casually competitive” where everyone has a chance at winning and nobody is too dominant. Leave your cEDH win-by-turn-3 combo deck at home.
- Proxies are cool.
- Fees. Meetup charges $30 a month for the privilege of maintaining a group here. There’s no monetary fee but try to send your gracious host a beer every once in awhile.
