Mahjongg Craze!

Mahjongg Craze is a place to discover, learn, play, and connect through American Mahjongg — one tile and one table at a time.

Whether you are completely new, returning after some time away, or already comfortable at the table, Mahjongg Craze helps you find opportunities to learn, practice, play, meet other players, and become part of a welcoming Mahjongg community.

We primarily play and teach American Mahjongg using National Mah Jongg League rules and the current NMJL card.

### New to Mahjongg?

You are absolutely in the right place.

American Mahjongg can feel like a lot at first. There are tiles to recognize, a card to understand, hands to build, a Charleston to learn — and eventually an entire game happening around you.

That’s why Mahjongg Craze beginner instruction is intentionally patient, step-by-step, and confidence-focused.

You do not need to know anything about Mahjongg before you begin.

### Learn American Mahjongg

Mahjongg Craze offers learning opportunities for true beginners, returning players, and players who want focused help improving particular parts of their game.

Instruction may include:

• Private or small-group lessons
• Guided beginner play
• Community learning opportunities
• Classes and workshops
• Online instruction by arrangement
• Focused help with the NMJL card, Charleston, hand building, game flow, calling, exposing, and strategy

This is a 30-minute scheduling conversation, not the lesson itself. Submit a request and Amy will work with you to determine the right lesson format, date, and time.

Mahjongg Craze isn't only a teaching program. It's a growing community for players at different stages of the game.

Join open play, meet other players, practice what you've learned, discover games around Tucson, or help newer players become more comfortable at the table.

### Regular East-Side Play

Our Tucson east-side community currently meets:

Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. — True Beginner Guided Play
A supportive open-play environment for newer players who are still building confidence. Teacher support is available as you play.

Thursdays, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. — Beginner Open Play
For players becoming more independent, with a teacher available when questions or clarification come up.

A potluck contribution is always welcome at our clubhouse gatherings, but never required.

Wednesday lessons from 9:00–10:00 a.m. are available by appointment.

There is no longer a standing Saturday class. Additional lessons and other times can be arranged by request.

Mahjongg Craze is working to expand learning and play opportunities throughout Tucson — including new locations and evening games coming soon.

Individual opportunities may have different locations, costs, skill levels, age requirements, or RSVP requirements, so please check the details for each event.

### Teachers, Hosts & Community Partners

Mahjongg Craze is becoming bigger than any one teacher or table.

We're building connections among players, teachers, Community Hosts, venues, organizations, and existing Mahjongg groups — while creating opportunities for people who would like to help Mahjongg grow in their own communities.

Some may eventually pursue MC Certified Teacher or MC Certified Community Host roles. Others may remain completely independent while connecting their games or services with the wider Mahjongg Craze community.

Mahjongg Craze is free to join. Individual classes, lessons, workshops, events, venues, or partner activities may have their own fees when noted.
