Your F.A.B. Divorce: Helping Clients During the Emotional Chaos of Divorce
High-conflict emotions, such as anger or fear, significantly hinder divorce mediation by causing reduced cooperation and communication breakdowns, which can trigger combative exchanges. This often leads to impulsive, irrational, and unrealistic decision-making.
Statistics show that divorce is 15% legal and 85% emotional. They also reveal that individuals who are emotionally prepared for mediation reach agreements 40% faster. But whose job is it to help clients work through their emotions so they can keep their eye on the prize and make meaningful compromises that are best for all concerned?
Introducing Your F.A.B. Divorce, a new, innovative, online program created to fill that gap. Utilizing empirically based techniques, this beta-tested program supports personal exploration and growth, while teaching individuals how to recognize, honor, and work through their emotions to promote future-focused thinking. Your F.A.B. Divorce helps clients develop an effective and empowering mindset that encourages them to remain Focused, Accepting, and Bendable, while uncovering their underlying needs, goals, and fears, things that can help make negotiating on common ground possible by focusing on interests, not positions.
In addition to useful insights and tips on how to support emotional clients through mediation, attendees will also receive simple templates that can be shared to help them clarify priorities, maintain focus, and move through the divorce mediation process more efficiently.
