Daisy Art Parade Build Day
MAKE Roanoke, 128 Albemarle Ave SE, Roanoke, VA, USMAKE Roanoke is thrilled to be participating in the Daisy Art Parade again this year! For those who don't know, the Daisy Art Parade is a parade in Roanoke of giant puppets that people in our community make! All puppets must be man-powered (IE no cars towing them!) and using recycled material is highly encouraged. This year the parade is on May 9 and is held in conjunction with a Carnival! You can learn more about the parade here.
This build day will focus on refurbishing the Octopus Puppet to prepare him for the parade!
This can include painting, repair of tentacles, and new objectsWe are also looking for people to make small prizes for our Foil Boat Engineering Carnival Game. Think small 3D Printed trinkets, crocheted hackey sacks, etc. Things for kids but also things for adults!
End goals for the WHOLE project:
- Update and repair the octopus for reuse. This can include painting, repair of tentacles, and new objects
- Have a Foil Boat Carnival Game with prizes awarded! I would like to have a set of prizes from each shop, if possible, with separate prizes for Adult and Child categories (also need to figure out age brackets)
- Prize ideas include yarn/marble fidgets, 3D printed toys, resin printed bit holders, cutting boards, etc.
- We would like to have a MAKE Roanoke (and any volunteers, no need to be a member) day where we all compete to see what kind of “goal/prize criteria” we need to have for the event day.
