About us
MAKE Roanoke is a non-profit makerspace in Roanoke, VA. MAKE Roanoke is entirely led and run by volunteers. We are located at 128 Albemarle Ave SE, B, Roanoke VA 24013. We don't have standard open hours, but instead give our membership key fobs to access the space whenever suits them.
Mission Statement
MAKE Roanoke exists to promote knowledge, skill, and creativity in science, technology, crafts, and the arts. We strive to foster these values in an inclusive and safe environment. To these ends, MAKE Roanoke shall provide the following:
- An inclusive and collegial social framework for members to inspire and collaborate with others of similar interests;
- A maintained communal space providing safe access to tools and supplies for projects; and
- Events to promote education and collaboration between members and the greater Roanoke community.

Members Only: Make a Wooden Keepsake Box Class
MAKE Roanoke, 128 Albemarle Ave SE, Roanoke, VA, USJoin us at MAKE Roanoke to make your own wooden slide top box in this members only class! You must be a MAKE Roanoke Member to attend. Find out more about MAKE Roanoke Membership here.
Members will use the table saw, thickness planer, and pin nailer to make this box and will learn rabbit and dado joinery.
There will be a break for lunch during this class.
This class is recommended for age 18+, and is suitable for beginners. It will also count for tool certification for pneumatics and the planer.
Payment is taken at the door. We accept PayPal, Cash, or Card (including tap-to-pay).
Please note that MAKE Roanoke is an active workshop:
- All participants must have a signed waiver on file. If the participant is a minor, the waiver must be signed by a parent or court-appointed legal guardian. Waivers can be filled out ahead of time at https://mkroa.org/waiver
- Children who are not participating in the event are not permitted in the space.
- Closed toed shoes are required in the space at all times by everyone, regardless of age or participation in an event. No sandals, crocs, or bare feet.
- You may be asked to remove or tuck in dangling jewelry, lanyards, etc for safety.
- Depending on the activity, other dress code rules may apply.

This training is for getting access to our Atomstack A10 diode laser.This orientation will go over basic workflow and safety but will not cover the laser software we use LightBurn in depth. The LightBurn YouTube channel is a great resource for more in-depth software tutorials.

MAKE Roanoke Virtual Community Meeting

The evening starts with a slideshow sharing the latest updates about Roanoke's own non-profit community makerspace, including upcoming events, new tools, and member announcements. After the updates, we open the floor for "Maker Show and Tell" where anyone can showcase their creative projects--whether it's a 3D Print, a woodworking piece, electronics project, embroidery, or any other creative endeavor.
It's a great way to connect with your fellow Roanoke makers, get inspired, collaborate, and share your passion for making!
These meetings are free and open to the public, you do not need to be a MAKE Roanoke Member to attend! All are welcome, and feel free to lurk!
