While most museums slowed down during the pandemic, the folks at the Rock Hall used that time to be productive. It was time to gut all of their legacy systems and implement new scalable, flexible systems. From email marketing, to ticketing, to e-commerce and CRM, no (rolling) stone was left unturned.
In this one-of-a-kind session, you’ll hear from Ben Nyx, Director of Software Development at the Rock Hall, who will share stories from the trenches on what it takes to transform the tech stack of an entire museum and organization.
You’ll also get a sneak preview of the radical improvements they’ve got in store for a brand new visitor experience and their upcoming 100-million dollar building expansion. Trust us…. it’ll…. wait for it…. should I…? rock.
Ben Nyx, Director of Software Development at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Manages the software and web development team. He programs and designs interactives, websites, digital signage, and creates and connects APIs.
With a BFA in Computer Animation and a minor in Sculpture, Ben is a creative problem solver. Over the past 6 years Ben has transformed the Rock Hall. He was the driving force behind The Garage exhibit, the most popular exhibit the Rock Hall has ever had.
Utilizing personal identification systems Ben is tailoring experiences for each visitor and giving them the ability to express themselves through user generated content. From Blockchain, to designing circuit boards, to 3D printing, Ben is a digital renaissance man.

You must RSVP to gain entrance to this event. Guests without an RSVP will be turned away. You've been warned!
The venue is on the first floor and is a handicap-accessible event space.

What is This?
Cleveland tech/startup community: Join us for casual networking and re-connecting with your fellow humans, accompanied by some of the finest beverages this city has to offer! No big agenda, no KPIs, just community members re-building community the old fashioned way.
About the Organizers:
This is a 100% community-led event, which means a few people got together and decided to organize something to get us back together in person. This also means that we're totally going rogue: no organizations, no sponsors, andddd no official space rental. :)
This means we will be sharing the space with the public, and we're all ready to cover our own bar tabs (but if you're feeling generous and would like to buy a beverage for another human, we'd love that!).
Who's This For?
All those involved in or interested in meeting others from the local tech/startup community are welcome. No exclusions!
What Should I Bring?
A positive attitude and excitement for seeing some familiar faces and meeting new ones.
What Shouldn't I Bring?
(1) Your sales pitch. We're here to learn what we've all been up to the past few years and build genuine connections, not sell stuff (this time). We're sure there are other events for that. :)
(2) Your complaints. We all know there's work to be done in the community, but we're in this together. Positive vibes only plz.
