Maker Nexus Makerspace

New Members, Seasoned Members, or Prospective Members, join us for an introduction to membership at Maker Nexus and get all your questions answered. We will cover:

• How Maker Nexus is organized
• Using the makerspace - tips and tricks to get the most out of your membership
• Our systems
• Where to get help when you need it
• Volunteering

New Member Orientations are offered monthly at no charge and open to anyone who wants to attend. Registration is appreciated, but not required and you may bring a guest or two.

There is the option of a full tour following the orientation if you'd like an opportunity to see all the equipment we have to use!

Craft* = Whatever “craft” means to you.

Work on your own creative project while socializing with other makers! Chat while your hands are busy and get inspired by what everyone else is working on. Bring your own project, tools, and materials. Drop in when you can, stay for as little or as long as you like.

What kind of project should you bring?

• Bring something you’re actively working on. It can be a traditional craft – or any other project you’re working on! At past events, we’ve had crochet, sorting, assembling, cross stitching, weaving, painting, cosplay, cutting, knitting, sewing, coloring, coding, tiling, and more. You can also just come to hang out and chat.
• Show and tell of completed projects are welcome. 🤗
• This event takes place in a the MN Event Room, which is an indoor conference room. Things that require masks, respirators, or heavy ventilation are not appropriate (e.g. sanding, aerosols, certain types of paints and glues, etc). We know those are part of the creative process, but they just don’t work in the space. Help keep our community safe!
• If your project might be considered messy (e.g. paint/glue), you’ll need to cover the table tops to protect them. Everyone is responsible for cleaning up their own space.

Note for non-members: Non-members are welcome! Just sign in at the front desk and get a badge when you arrive. You won't have access to the tools and materials at the makerspace (bring everything you need for your project) but you're welcome to take a tour of the makerspace and see what we're all about.
