Fusion 360: 3D Modeling for Beginners

Details
This hands-on beginner workshop introduces students to the fundamentals of 3D modeling using Autodesk Fusion 360. Participants will learn how to navigate the software interface, sketch 2D geometry, and transform those sketches into basic 3D models. Through guided practice and a personalized design project, students will gain confidence using core modeling tools. While this course does not focus on 3D printing, students will learn how to save and export their models for future use or printing.
No prior experience with 3D printing or CAD software is required. All tools and materials will be provided. Students should consider bringing a thumb drive to store their project files.
Topics Covered
- Understand the basic layout and tools of Fusion 360.
- Create and constrain 2D sketches using lines, rectangles, and circles.
- Convert sketches into solid 3D models using extrusion and modification tools.
- Design a simple custom model using core CAD principles.
- Learn the difference between saving and exporting files, including STL export for 3D printing.
