Open Metal Shop Night is a free, monthly drop-in session where you can work on your own projects alongside our shop mentors and other members. Whether you're a member looking for company and advice on a project or a student looking for shop time outside of class, this night is for you. No sign-up fee!
What to Expect
- Open bench and welding time in the metal shop, mentor-supervised
- Shop mentors on hand for questions, feedback, and troubleshooting
- A chance to meet other members and fellow students working in the shop
- Bring your own project, or come just to practice fundamentals
- Casual, come-and-go format — no set curriculum
Additional Information
This is free to attend for MSL members, past class participants and students. You do not need to be a member to come. Closed-toe shoes and standard metal shop PPE required for anyone using equipment; MSL has some loaner gear on hand but bring your own if you have it. Interested in 24/7 shop access between sessions? Ask about becoming a member!
How to Find Us
Please arrive on time. We will meet in the Make Salt Lake lobby, then head back to the metal shop. Attendees who arrive more than 10 minutes late may not be able to join!
