Alternative Photography - Intro to Cyanotype
Details
Join us for one of the first classes in our new Folsom facility. In this 2.5 hour hands-on class, you’ll learn how the cyanotype process works, then use a UV light box to run a gradient test that finds the exposure time for a true Prussian blue. You’ll coat your own watercolor paper with sensitizer and make two 4x6 prints from your own photos, or choose one of ours. No experience needed. Our instructor will guide you through the process step by step.
Topics Covered
- How cyanotype works and a short history of the process
- Mixing the sensitizer chemicals
- Coating watercolor paper for even coverage
- Running a gradient test under UV light to estimate exposure time
- Setting up your negative for exposure
- Exposing, washing, and finishing your prints
