Greeting Makers!

This month we have a lot of stuff planned. First, lets make some musical drawings with the Drawdio mini-project! Check out the videos (https://www.ladyada.net/make/drawdio/) of it in action. Since this project requires a little more equipment then usual kits will be a $15 for members and $20 for non-members.

UPDATE: Esperanza will not be able to participate in this meeting, but we will still be making the Drawdio kits.

///Then we are starting the Remake America series with Esperanza Pallana (https://pluckandfeather.com/) an urban farmer living in Oakland. You may have seen her article in Make 18 (https://makezine.com/18/gardenanalysis/). She will speak about on how you actually make farming in a city work and how you can begin farming your self. If you have any questions you want answered, post them on the message board under the "Do you have questions on urban farming?" topic and we will pass them on to her. ///

UPDATE: Thinking about a Maker Faire Application? Ledia Carroll who works for the Maker Faire will be available at this meeting to answer questions, help people brainstorm, and work on proposals. So if you want to get your stuff into Maker Faire come to this meeting. Proposals for the Bay Area Maker Faire are due by March 31, 2010. The faire will take place at the San Mateo Fairgrounds May 22 and 23rd.

Application info (https://makerfaire.com/bayarea/2010/callformakers/)

The Remake America series is inspired by the Welcome (https://makezine.com/remake/) and the projects (https://makezine.com/18/) in the Remake America issue of Make Magazine. It will be a series of speakers, projects, and demos all within framework outlined in the that issue. The goal we have is to create a community of people who are all building a sustainable future. So, if you are already working on a sustainability project we want to hear about it. If you want to start a sustainability project we will help you get started. If you want to learn more come see a speaker or do a mini-project in the series. Lets get started!

This fun-for-all-ages event starts at 6:30pm. Children under 14 need to be accompanied by an adult.

New to Make:SF. Here is what you can do:

  • New to making? Come and explore with a fun mini-project.
  • Have an idea? Come and we will help you get started making it.
  • Making something? Come and demo it. Get feedback and network with the Makers.
  • Come to see the speakers we bring in talk about their projects, tools you can use, etc.
