3 Years of Makespace: A Showcase
Details
A public event as part of the Science Festival. 7-9pm.
Celebrating our third birthday, Makespace will be full of the projects, products and people who have used the space to build something new over the past three years.
Drop in to see how people have used our equipment, including 3D printers, laser cutters, mills, knitting and sewing machines, jewellery bench, glass kiln, workshop and t-shirt press. There will be some live demonstrations of the kit, and and tours of the space running on the hour at 7pm and 8pm. http://www.sciencefestival.cam.ac.uk/events/three-years-makespace-showcase
We need members to show off all the cool things they've made, companies started, competitions won, lab equipment enhanced, etc, etc. If you can't bring real things, then photos work too!
We'll also be using this event to document some of these stories that we've so far only collected in an ad-hoc fashion, so if you've got little prototypes, early versions, etc, that tell the story, bring those too.
There will be some filming at the event for our archive and for some Makespace promotional material.
For nostalgia, here's the blog post from 3 years ago when we opened up: http://makespace.org/2013/03/makespace-is-open-for-making/
