Lets learn how to 3D print metal parts!

The photograph on this event page is from the FabMX display at the Sanjay Mortimer Rep-Rap Festival last year.

The goal of Project FabMX is to design and build an affordable, open-hardware 3d printing system capable of producing metal objects.

At Makespace, the Metal Printing Club will build a 3D printer using the FabMX extruder, and develop a toolchain to deliver steel parts as cheaply as possible.

FabMX have kindly included us in their Beta Testing programme so we will have the custom metal parts needed to build the extruder.

This inaugural meeting will allow us to meet in person to continue the discussion we've started on the Google groups. We'll focus on planning and finding out what resources we have available to bring the project to life in Cambridge. I'll share some early designs for the printer, and anything else I have by then.
