Making Friends After 40

Green Cay Nature Center is a 1.5 mile boardwalk loop through cultivated wetlands. Expect to see tons of birds, some turtles and rabbits, and perhaps an alligator lurking in the waters or an iguana perched in the trees.

At 7:45 AM we will check in at the start of the path from parking lot to the nature center. From there, we will all do 1 full loop together at a leisurely pace, stopping occasionally to get to know each other as a group. Walking enthusiasts in the group will continue for a second loop at a faster pace, and dedicated hikers who enjoy Meetups ending with them being drenched in sweat will finish a third loop.

This is a rain or shine event. Walking and hiking in South Florida means getting a little wet sometimes, and dodging raindrops together can be a great way to get closer to new friends.

Want to see a new movie before anyone else? Want to meet some new friends for dinner before the show? We thought so.

• We will meet at 6 PM at Olive U at the corner of Lyons and Atlantic for a make-your-own Mediterranean dinner. If you've never been to Olive U before, it's like Chipotle but with Mediterranean food.
• At 7:15, we'll head over to Movies of Delray to catch a movie that will be released at some point in mid-to-late August. Which movie? We don't know! All we know is that it's rated R, it isn't a horror film, and isn't animated.
• The movie costs $5 (when you buy the ticket at the door) or $7 if you want to buy your tickets online.
• We will all try to sit together at the show. If you can't make dinner but want to join us for the movie, just make sure you talk to the Meetup host ahead of time so we can save you a spot.

It's a blast from the past with a classic game night staple that we all loved when we were younger: UNO! Meet new friends and endear them to you by dropping a Wild Draw-4 on them. Multiple times. Because that's the way you roll. Laugh with old friends as they all gang up on YOU when you forget to yell "Uno" when you have one card left.

Copperpoint Brewing Company has a wide selection of beers to help the time pass by, some of which will be on "All day happy hour" at discounted prices. They also serve plenty of non-alcoholic drinks if that's what you'd prefer. There will be a food truck available (probably ramen) if you get the munchies while we play.
