What we’re about

Welcome to Manchester and District walking group (or MAD for short). We’re a walking group for people in their 20s and 30s who enjoy regular walks around Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, the Peak District, the Lake District, Yorkshire  and North Wales. Walks range from short & easy to long & challenging.

Our current walks programme is available at www.madwalkers.org.uk.  Most of our members are not on meetup so RSVP lists will seem low but walks typically attract around 20 - 30 people so there's always plenty of people to meet and chat with.

We formed in 2004 and we’re part of the Ramblers; Britain’s walking charity.  Because we're part of the Ramblers, you can try up to three walks with us before deciding whether or not you want to continue with us.  If you do decide to stay, we need you to take out a yearly membership with the Ramblers.  An individual membership for the year is around £38.50 (see www.ramblers.org.uk for current information on pricing and discounts).

There are many money saving benefits to a Ramblers membership as well as access to online resources, magazines, attendance on weekends away and priority bookings for socials such as meals, cinema nights, theatre events etc.  Your Ramblers membership also gets you access to our members only Facebook page.

There are monthly pub based meet ups in Manchester for new and existing members alike.  We also hold regular and varied daytime, evening and nighttime social events.

Hopefully we'll you soon.
