What we're about

This is a group for women 45 and up who are interested in making new friends, trying new things (big or small), and are looking to have fun and enjoy life! We could meet for a movie, take a cooking class, go to an interesting lecture, play games, go to lunch or dinner, have varied themed meetings. Looking forward to meeting you and trying new things together in Manhattan!

Walk & Talk - Central Park

Central Park

We will meet at 10:00am on the right side of the USS Maine Monument (pictured above) located in Columbus Circle on the SW corner entrance of Central park (59th St. & 8th Ave which turns into Central Park West). Kristen, one of my members and my co-hostess will be our leader for the walk.

Everyone is encouraged to arrive early as we will depart promptly at 10:10, and you may want to "use the facilities" before departure! There are public restrooms located in One Columbus Circle (formerly the Time Warner Center).

The walk is approximately 4.5 miles and we should return to Columbus Circle around 11:45-12 if we maintain a moderately brisk pace. This is not a stroll so it may not be the right walk for everyone, but you will be able to walk and talk! (If there is a lot of interest, we can organize a slow stroll through the Park another day!) Please wear appropriate footwear and feel free to drop off at any point. From Columbus Circle we will walk NE through the Literary Walk to the Bethesda Fountain and past the Boat House. We will continue North and complete a loop around the Jackie O Reservoir and then back down the west side finishing back at Columbus Circle.

If you can't find us or lose us during the walk, feel free to call me at[masked].

Looking forward to walking and talking with you! Laura Schindelman

Claire Cook has a perfect life. Married to the scion of a political dynasty, with a Manhattan townhouse and a staff of ten, her surroundings are elegant, her days flawlessly choreographed, and her future auspicious. But behind closed doors, nothing is quite as it seems. That perfect husband has a temper that burns as bright as his promising political career, and he's not above using his staff to track Claire's every move, making sure she's living up to his impossible standards. But what he doesn't know is that Claire has worked for months on a plan to vanish. A chance meeting in an airport bar brings her together with a woman whose circumstances seem equally dire. Together they make a last-minute decision to switch tickets -- Claire taking Eva's flight to Oakland, and Eva traveling to Puerto Rico as Claire. They believe the swap will give each of them the head start they need to begin again somewhere far away. But when the flight to Puerto Rico goes down, Claire realizes it's no longer a head start but a new life. Cut off, out of options, with the news of her death about to explode in the media, Claire will assume Eva's identity, and along with it, the secrets Eva fought so hard to keep hidden.
